Cook's personal involvement in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the field of explosives spans more than fifty years.
Jul 11, I buy explosives from a licenced treeclearing.bar use safety fuse, no.8 detonator, detcord, 1/2 stick powergel for primer charge and 8 kg anfo for each stump.D. The simple removal of a tree stump might be done with a 2-step train made up of an electric blasting cap and a stick of dynamite. The detonation wave from the blasting cap would cause detonation of. All you need to do is get yourself a drilling rig, drill some holes in a calculatedpattern (I wont go into pattern drilling and fragmentation calcs here, that's a wholecourse in itself) load the holes with ANFO, set a primer charge of high explosivesfor detonation, let it rip then stand back and enjoy the show!
Stump-blasting with ANFO The use of ANFO blasting agent in min ing was found to reduce explosive costs to less than one half and farmers soon became aware that this might apply to land clearing and stump-blasting.
It has been tried for this purpose and despite some initial scepticism, the method has now established itself as a cheaperCreated Date: 2/21/ PM. that are shown schematically in Figure The simple removal of a tree stump might be done with a 2-step train made up of an electric blasting cap and a stick of dynamite.
The detonation wave from the blasting cap would cause detonation of the dynamite. To make a large hole in the earth, an inexpensive explosive such as ANFO might be used.

Dec 24, Drill several holes into your stump as deep as you can. Put the drum over the stump and put a big bag of charcoal in it; soak with lighter fluid and light. Keep adding wood, charcoal, etc.
Let it burn all day and refill the drum about half way up before you go to bed. Start by trimming the stump closer to the ground with a chainsaw. Dig up any rocks around the base of the stump. Hard debris can damage the blades of the stump grinder.
Keep the equipment in good working order. Dull blades and missing teeth can be an obstacle to removing the stump.
